Campers of the Week
King, this two year old 105lb red nosed Pitbull, was fully introduced into the group here just two days into his two week stay with us. He, and his little brother Geronimo, the 3 year old Yorkie-Poo, hadn't been around any other dogs since they were pups. Their folks requested a private room, concerned with how they might interact with the others; I agreed but, we also agreed that if King and Geronimo passed the required tests they would be introduced to our "pack". When they arrived King had a prong-collar on that had little effect, it seemed to encourage his "pulling Dad Game"; Geronimo just seemed a little "hyper", trying to take in his new surroundings.
An hour into their stay I heard a high pitched, lets call it a scream, come from the "new kids" room. I rushed into the room in time to see King on his back, with Geronimo the little 19 pounder latched onto his neck in play...then the "scream"! It turns out King can scream "like a little girl", truly the biggest belly laugh I've had in a long time! Anyway, the next day went very well, King doesn't need a prong-collar, and enjoys walking on leash next to me on his flat collar that used to just hold his tags.
The rest was just a matter of wearing him down with some free roam, and play; Titan, and Izzy were happy to give him an example of what running looks like...he he! I need to start taking some random video, this stuff is priceless! King loves to bait the others into play, then as soon as they do, he "screams" out like a little kid when they've learned it's fun to be scared. King is as Pit-bull as it gets, if more people spent time with a great big baby like him the general attitude toward Pits would quickly change. He and Geronimo are just two of many reasons I love what I do!
